I shall fight to run away!
Shiro Yoshida
Codename: Kamuro
Age: 33
Character Affiliation: The X-Men

Powers;

He has the ability to generate multi-colored plasmoids that take on the form of fireworks and his training has gone as far as manipulating their sizes from coin-sized ones to full-blown fireworks. The intensity of his powers are also his to control and they can either temporarily blind his targets, pop a little lock open or destroy an entire alley. He can also absorb those fireworks back into his body without any trouble or pain. With extra effort, Shiro can detonate matter at a molecular level (i.e. blow up someone's clothing article while doing minimal damage to unconsciousness through the concussive force used) and use his powers to imitate a fusion bomb (though he hasn't tried -- he's a bit of a pansy).

Biography/History;

Shiro's discovery about his special abilities came to him one morning during his school break; he was just 8-years old, then. At that time, he was still living under his father's roof. A little accident happened before the discovery which involved a necklace his mother bought from her previous trip in Prague which he had unknowingly broken while in search of something he was anyway not allowed to. The panic was the one thing that jumpstarted the plasmoids and before he knew it, multi-colored sparkles danced before his eyes and that distracted him from his bout of carelessness.

Through the days and due to his fondness and childish amusement, he learned to somehow control those little popping fireworks in that firstly, he pushed himself to a little panic so that they came out and then, he could summon them at will by simply visualizing them. He did this always in secret, locked inside his own bedroom and during the night when he was expected to be asleep.

But when his Uncle Tomo visited one year later, and he was supposed to have completed a calligraphic art he had not even started just so the Yoshidas could have something to boast to their traveling relative, Shiro panicked anew and his plasmoids popped into untameable life. He fought to keep them as he he hid behind a couch in the living room but alas, everyone had found him and forced the fireworks into near violence.

Still, the Yoshida family was closely related to the supernatural ways, having family friends that either dabbled with spirits, were members of shrines or read a lot of mystical things to help them in their finances and so they concluded that this was nothing too different -- that perhaps the spirits had taken on the boy with some liking and decided to befriend him with their powers, and that because of his enthusiasm during the annual firework festivals, they gave him the ability to make one of his own. His parents consulted their mystical acquaintances in this regard and their advises varied in that they should help Shiro keep it a secret and they should make sure he followed a certain path of good.

Among his relatives, Tomo had been the most helpful, checking on his sudden gifts everyday and encouraging him to play with the little sparks more so that he would grow familiar with them. But a month later, Tomo had flown back to Europe and Shiro only had his mother (his father was out of country at that time) to help guide him in his powers; he thought his uncle could have done a better job.

The lack of practice and inspiration had probably been the one to prompt the Inevitable Accident. It came a few years later when his application to study abroad was declined and once again, Shiro had panicked. His acceptance had been something they had all been looking forward to and the hysteria that set his fireworks ablazed had only doubled when he could not keep them from calming down. Fearing disappointment, and not to mention his parents' reactions, his pyrotechnic powers matured and he destroyed his bedroom's entire wall.

He vowed that that would be the last time he would use his powers.

His mother came back scared and they cried and hugged each other, completely disregarding the fact that Shiro's application had failed and only saying that he'll just go and study abroad next time, when their luck was better. Since then, he made sure he controlled himself more than ever until he grew to be a very calm and controlled man. When Tomo came back to visit them again later, Shiro told him that his powers had disappeared.

Shiro did not anymore try and apply in other countries as an exchange student until he's graduated from high school which was when he started surfing around the internet for available courses that the prestigious schools offered. By then, he had a very good life. He's graduated with honors, was well in the athletic aspect of his life and had a girlfriend who his family approved of. Shiro was very happy.

His past would come to haunt him one late night, though, as he was driving his girlfriend home from the movies and that had changed everything. As he drove pass an intersection in one of the empty roads of Tokyo, the flash of a truck's light would beam to his side and the honk would shake the very soul in him. At his girlfriend's yell, he slapped his hand onto the window facing the speeding truck and miracle worked its way there. The multi-colored sparkles reappeared before him and what came next was one loud explosion that carved the roads and incinerated the front-part of the truck. Shiro and his girlfriend were safe.

But immediately after, she left him.

Terrorism and Gas Leakage were two of the speculated things that caused the accident and Shiro holed himself up inside the house, talking only to his parents who did all they could to protect the media from finding out about his powers. To their luck, though, the City University of New York has returned their inquiry and accepted Shiro's application. After sending a note to his father who was in America for diplomatic work, Shiro flew towards the new country.

He completed his course and graduated university with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Shiro would proceed to work in one of the bigtime companies based in the same state and with his salary had managed to give himself a decent life, living in an apartment with water and electricity and a good internet connection. Still, it was inevitable to keep his powers from popping out of nowhere and he has had his share of running away from angry human rights mobs, fearing the damage that his powers would be capable of as well as the attention that the media would give him and the high possibility of losing his job. It was from this dilemma that Shiro had developed a cold and stoic exterior in an attempt to drive the mobs off or threaten them without having to use his powers. Sometimes, he initiates them but if the crowd doesn't run away yet, he would fling the sparks to the air and take his escape while the people are distracted.

Once in a weekday, a failure to meet deadlines in his work would itch those little fireworks into existence and as he tried to hide them, a man named Charles Xavier would find him and begin to talk to him about his special powers. Convinced about his safety and learning more about keeping his powers in check, he agreed to join the school and began to learn more about his powers alongside making even more money in his mundane job; he teaches, as well, though only as a substitute. Now, having gained full control of his powers and though sometimes reluctantly, he joins the X-Men in some of their campaigns.

Personality;

Outside, Shiro is a silent and difficult man to befriend but while that might be half-true, he's actually fine with being sociable. Friends and company have always been enjoyable things for him and he does his best to play his part in a conversation. His inclination to run away, though, has given him the attitude to slip out of whatever he can slip out of just to avoid trouble and he has difficulty taking risks. He hates suspense, thriller and horror movies and likes his days easy and simple.

Strengths;

He could write a book about how to escape from one hundred and one situations and he does his best to keep calm despite the most nerve-racking situations. Shiro also takes his time to make sure things are calculated or planned well to save everyone from future troubles. His power control has also gone as far as him being able to imitate a full-blown fireworks display and have them 60 meters (197 feet) into the sky all by his own. He's especially fond of doing this should a joyous occassion demand it, never having outgrown his excitement for fireworks.

Weaknesses;

In terms of battles, he has little hope and faith in his powers though this impression has changed a bit since he's joined the X-Men. He's not the best man to ask for a challenge and he might seem to be a bit close-minded on some topics like arguments, violence, etc., always standing by the fact that if trouble could be avoided or talked about, then it should be. While his loyalty is one of his good qualities, if a situation gets really tense, no one should be surprised to see him running away.

Appearance;

Shiro fancies a long, layered hair with colors shifting from black or brown. He's rather tall (though not amazingly tall), and could use some more food in his diet. He likes his clothes plain and semi-formal and prefers the earthen hues, as well. Shiro also has an excessive fondness on sunglasses: if it's not on his eyes, it's either on his collar or on one of his pockets. This might have to do with the intensity of his powers.
